Responsibilities & Observations of the Emergency Responder

Extinguish
To put out a fire completely.

First Responder
The first to arrive at the fire scene; firefighters initially attacking a fire; the first person to investigate a fire - firefighters investigator, or officer.

Forcible Entry
The lawful or unlawful entering of a structure or vehicle by means of physical force.

Incendiary
A fire believed to have been deliberately set.

Incendiary Device
Contrivance designed and used to start a fire.

Indicator
Visual remains at a fire scene revealing the fire's origin, progress, action, or cause.

Overhaul
Overhaul is the practice of searching a fire scene to detect hidden fires or sparks that may rekindle and also to note the possible point of origin and cause of fire. Afterwards, the building is to be left in as safe and habitable condition as possible.

Trailer
Combustible material used to spread fire from one point or area to other points or areas.
