A brief account of a previous incident.
Augment
To help out or assist.
Breach
To make an opening (usually in masonry wall) to allow access for ventilation.
Confined Space
Space with limited entry and exit points that is not intended for continuous
occupation.
Critique
To analyze an event; to point out strong or weak points of an operation.
Dilapidated
Unstable; unkept.
Dumbwaiter
A manual or automated elevator designed for small objects (packages), usually
3ft. x 3ft. x 3ft.
Entrapment
To become immobilized by machinery or an object.
Evolution
Training scenario that provides a realistic hands-on exercise.
Gorge
A narrow passage between hills; ravine.
Imperative
An obligation or duty; a must.
Interface
To work together seamlessly.
Intervention
A procedure that changes the outcome.
Intravenous
Through a vein.
Jurisdiction
Area of response.
Low-Head Dam
Also called "drowning machines"; type of dam where victims become
trapped in the backwash.
Packaging
Preparing an accident victim for transport.
Preclude
To rule out by circumstance.
Scrutinize
To look closely at paying exclusive attention to detail.
Spelunker
Recreational cave explorer.
Subterranean
Below the surface of the surrounding terrain.
Susceptible
Easily influenced or affected.
Terrain
Natural or man-made features of the Earth's surface.
Trenching
Temporary excavation of an area; generally less than 15ft. wide at the bottom
and less that 20ft. deep.
Triage
System of sorting patients by severity of injury that determines the order in
which they will receive medical attention/transport.
